How we work

Graphic design begins with a problem. A message must be communicated visually and be perceived as intended by a target audience. The process is based on the situation at hand and the end objective requested by the client. We find the solution to the problem through a well-tested process.
We consider ourselves a Design Studio because the objective is reached through a thorough study of the problem. Another but not least determinant part of the process is the specific framework attached to the assignment at hand. This includes both a time perspective and most often financial limitations.
In the preliminary phase of the process we search high and low for traces that will lead us to the solution of the problem. This means that we ask a lot of relevant, insightful but also skewed and complex questions. We do this because we know that the final solution is often found in a place where neither the client nor we would have predicted to begin with. A good and useful design can never be credited entirely to us. It is developed through a close cooperation with the client. The process leading up to the desired objective is a continuous interchange of input.
When we have obtained the necessary insight and understanding, we hold the necessary raw material from which we can develop a number of ideas and design solutions.
All communication is built on culturally determined rules on how humans interact and perceive a message. The understanding of these conventions is an essential part of working with visual communication. In order to be able to compose a valuable solution, it is important to be familiar with how the signs are broken down.
For this reason we keep a close eye on the effect of visual communication and how it develops. Not because we are subject to current trends, but in order to be aware of when and why a design solution is unique and fulfills its role.
The idea phase grows from a clear understanding embedded in communicative conventions and the specific problem. In a continuous dialogue with the client we close in on the solution.
When the problem is solved we move into the phase of craftsmanship. This is where we use our experience and knowledge to master the disciplines linked with the development of the design. An excellent idea can easily fall to the ground if you do not possess the craftsmanship to realize the idea.
When the objective is reached and the problem is solved, it is the client's turn to feel the investment. Graphic design only works when it is visible on the bottom line. In other words: good design pays off.
